Resources
As a parent, caregiver, or loved one of a child with developmental needs, you may find yourself searching for resources that are helpful in your community and online that offer information regarding topics that resonate in your journey. There are lots of wonderful resources out there and we commend you for navigating this path! When navigating online resources it will be important to find information from sources that cite literature and research that is reliable and reputable. As Beautiful Bend opens it's doors and gathers resources, we will cite these here and in our social media outlets. As we meet we would love to hear about the resources you have found helpful in your journey as a family!
What to Expect
At Beautiful Bend we play! As play is the 'occupation' of any child it is a beautiful way to engage a child in a way that challenges their skill development. You can expect an experience full of play and empathy, working on the FUNction of your child and family. We work together as a team on the goals of your child and your family in a way the meets their current individual strengths and challenges. We are here to learn from you as a family and support where needed.
Individual Assessment
At Beautiful Bend we provide a comprehensive initial assessment, involving parents and children, to best understand your child's individual differences, strengths, and skills that are challenge. You can expect:
-
Initial Consultation with your therapist (parent/caregiver only) in-person or virtually. No fee.
-
Initial Assessment in Clinic (one or two sessions dependent on child's needs) with formal and informal assessment measures.
Thorough Reporting & Collaboration
Following your child's initial assessment, your therapist will provide a thorough report discussing your child's strengths, the individual differences that make them who they are, and the skills that are next-step challenges. The report is a necessary part of the process as it is a helpful tool in documenting where your child's skills are now and goals for the future, as well as a formal document you may share with other professionals working your child, and a document for parents to reference for therapeutic tools to try. Recommendations for therapy that is tailored to your child's needs, will range from home/community strategies, to targeted therapy sessions with their individual therapist.

A consultation to review the initial assessment is strongly encouraged, however not required. Consultation and collaboration with your child's support systems is available upon request.
Therapy Sessions
Therapy is individualized and a therapy program will be tailored to your child and you as a family. We recognize the unique needs of families and understand that there are circumstances that impact the availability for family to have therapy sessions and attending in-clinic appointments. Rest assured we will collaborate and have FUN as a team, with your family and child at the centre of it all, to help you and your child reach their goals!
