Resources
As a parent, caregiver, or loved one of a child with developmental needs, you may find yourself searching for resources that are helpful in your community and online that offer information regarding topics that resonate in your journey. There are lots of wonderful resources out there and we commend you for navigating this path! When navigating online resources it will be important to find information from sources that cite literature and research that is reliable and reputable. As Beautiful Bend opens it's doors and gathers resources, we will cite these here and in our social media outlets. As we meet we would love to hear about the resources you have found helpful in your journey as a family!
Hello!
Hi! My name is Jenna Luptak, O.T.Reg(MB), and I have been practicing Occupational Therapy, specializing in Pediatrics, since 2008, and studying in Post-secondary since 2002. My family and myself have been living, working, and playing, in the Southern Part of Manitoba for 15 years. We truly enjoy being a part of the community here and hold many experiences, friendships and memories close to our hearts. Personally, I have many 'occupations' that are dear to me and give a little extra zest in life, from being a mom to beautiful boys, a wife, an OT, a charity founder, a community volunteer, a hockey mom (and baseball and soccer!), a dog mom, and an individual that loves a great conversation and board game with family and friends, a walk/run/bike, travel, and DIY and craft projects ( I love making candles and using my Cricut!). Being present in life and trying my best to honour my family and our community are passions of mine. On top of that, as an OT, I take pride in leading innovative programming- founded in best practice and research. These occupations and passions keep me motivated and engaged everyday!
Experience & Innovation
My career has been worked at Boundary Trails Health Centre, seeing outpatient pediatric patients and their families in hospital clinic, in-home, at daycare, school, in the community, wherever support was needed. I was the contracted OT for Prairie Rose School Division (PRSD) for 5 plus years, and Borderland School Division (BLSD) for over a decade. In that time I was honoured to be a part of hundreds of children and their families lives. I thoroughly enjoy thinking 'outside of the box' and working collaboratively with whomever I had the privilege to be working with from children and students, their parents, daycare staff, teachers and educational assistants, other medical professionals and clinical staff. I have a zest for educating and providing workshops whenever I can. I have educated on a vast array of topics such as child development, school readiness, sensory processing, social-emotional development and DIR Floortime, and Regulation Room/Sensory Gym Programming, through to introducing programs such as Learning Without Tears® (formally Handwriting without Tears), and "How Does Your Engine Run?"®. I love creating innovative programs backed in research, with foundations in clinical theory, that fit the needs of children and the systems that support them. This led me to pioneer the Regulation Room/Sensory Gym Program in BLSD. This daily program was created to support the individual needs of many children in each school everyday by foundationally identifying and supporting regulation, improving engagement, and working on individual developmental skills. Innovation, collaboration, connection, and play are my jam!
